ADVOCACY WORK ON BEHALF OF VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE
Shari was instrumental in revolutionizing the law in California (applying the doctrine of delayed discovery to sexual abuse survivors) so that adult survivors of sexual abuse have rights. Once the law passed in California extending the statute limitations for civil lawsuits 40 other states followed California's lead and passed similar protective legislation.
Shari also worked to change the law in California to eliminate the "incest exception." Now family members and perpetrators will be criminally prosecuted instead of diverted to counseling.
